SINEW Mask
The Surface Ionization Non-contact Extended Wear (SINEW) Mask offers a dynamic solution with its ergonomic design and use of efficient electrohydrodynamic (EHD)-based filtration.
Overview
The SINEW Mask is a novel PPE solution that uses electrohydrodynamic technology to filter airborne particles without facial contact. Standard surgical masks lack particle protection, powered air-purifying respirators are cumbersome and loud, and N95 masks cause facial bruising and discomfort. The SINEW Mask addresses all of these limitations through electrostatic filtration that maintains an air gap from the wearer's face.
Wearable and Safe
- Electrohydrodynamic technology maintains an air gap from the wearer's face while using electrostatic filtration to remove harmful particles
- Delivers both protective effectiveness and wearing comfort without facial contact
Accessible
- Maintains facial visibility during communication, accommodating individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Preserves the wearer's ability to see the speaker's face while providing full airborne particle protection
Sustainable and Reusable
- Sterilizable, reusable design with a cleanable headband, rechargeable power supply, and replaceable electrostatic filter media
- Biodegradable face shield reduces environmental impact compared to disposable alternatives
- Rated for approximately 8 hours of daily use over two to three years before disposal
How It Works
- Electrohydrodynamic technology enables filtration along the mask perimeter millimeters from the face
- Airborne particles enter a charging region, become charged, and migrate toward the collection electrode
- Strong electric field between emitter and collector achieves high particle removal efficiency without skin contact
